Workshops and Training
Workshops provide important opportunities for choirs and musicians to meet and be renewed in their ministry. Ephrem and Giovanna Feeley are experienced workshop facilitators and can tailor workshops to suit the needs of your choir and community. These can take the form of evening, half-day or full day sessions.
Workshop topics include:
The Role of Music in Liturgy
Why does music occupy such a central role in liturgical celebrations? Choosing music that is sensitive to the rhythm of the liturgy can help develop a community’s faith. In this workshop we examine the key moments in the liturgy that require music. We look at the special ministry that choirs, cantors, presiders and accompanists have in leading the People of God in song.
Choral Singing Basics
A good choir is more than just a group of people who are willing to sing together. This workshop explores aspects of good choral practice, from breathing and tone, to diction and attendance!
Singing the Psalms
The Responsorial Psalm is an integral part of the Liturgy of the Word. In this workshop we examine the role of the psalmist in leading the psalm and look at different forms of singing these wonderful hymns from the Scriptures. We also look at various ways in which the psalms can be used throughout the liturgy.
Music for the Seasons
Choosing appropriate music for different liturgical seasons can heighten the meaning of these sacred times. In this workshop a wealth of new and traditional music is presented for the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter.
Workshops can also be provided in Cantor Training, Gregorian Chant, Composing for the Liturgy and The Presider’s Role in Song.
